The President and Vice President of the volleyball club founded the organization with a vision to create something different from traditional sports clubs. Motivated by their shared passion for the game, they wanted to build a space where young athletes could truly grow, not just in their volleyball skills, but also in confidence, teamwork, and love for the sport.

They prioritized development, encouragement, and a strong sense of community. Their leadership and commitment is for youth to discover their potential and fall in love with volleyball in a supportive, uplifting environment. Through their dedication, the club has become a place where passion meets purpose, and every player feels welcomed.

Introducing our President, a passionate individual who is dedicated to helping youth develop their skills in Volleyball. With a love for the sport that grew from watching his own kids play along with playing Volleyball in High School, he teamed up with his son, the Vice President, to open up this club. He is excited to see the Coaches and the club grow and thrive under their guidance.

With years of Managerial and Customer Service experience, he can assist in creating a successful club that caters not only to the athletes but also to the parents who support their kids for the love of the game Together, we can build a community that fosters growth and development for everyone involved.

Favorite motto: "YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE GREAT TO GET STARTED, BUT YOU HAVE TO START TO BE GREAT".

Introducing our Vice President, as well as the U18 & U16 Head Coach. Coach Mataeo is a dynamic indoor Volleyball Coach with a rich history of success, both as a player and a mentor. With multiple city championship banners and MVP titles earned during his athletic career, Coach Mataeo brings a wealth of experience and a winning mindset to every practice and match. With his extreme passion for Volleyball, he opened up his own club to help athletes excel in the sport they love.

Known for his engaging coaching style, Coach Mataeo emphasizes skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship, helping athletes not only improve his game but also build lasting friendships. Outside of volleyball, Coach Mataeo enjoys playing billiards for fun and immersing themselves in video games, fostering a well-rounded approach to both competition and recreation. With a passion for the sport and a commitment to his players, Coach Mataeo is dedicated to creating an environment where athletes can thrive both on and off the court.

Our dedicated volleyball coaching team is committed to more than just improving athletic performance, they inspire a genuine love for the game. Through consistent and effective coaching, they will help athletes sharpen their skills and build confidence, they instill discipline, leadership, and communication, core qualities essential for success in competitive volleyball. Our coaches will be here to guide and support every step of your journey.

COACH ALEX MENDOZA
HEAD COACH
U15 GIRLS - PURPLE

Coach Alex joined Bounce VC as the Assistant Coach for the U15 & U18 teams in the 2024–2025 season, bringing seven years of experience both as a player and a coach. As a former volleyball athlete, he possesses a deep understanding of the game and a strong passion for developing players’ skills and confidence on the court.

During the 2025–2026 season, Alex took on the role of assisting both the U16–White and U18 teams. When the Head Coach had to step away unexpectedly, Alex stepped up without hesitation to become the U16–White Head Coach. We are incredibly grateful for his willingness to take on this responsibility during a challenging time for the team. His leadership, dedication and commitment to our athletes are truly appreciated.

In his role, Alex focuses on specific areas, such as skill development, defense strategies, or conditioning, helping athletes enhance their performance and teamwork. He believes in fostering a supportive environment where players can thrive both individually and collectively.

Coach Zein began playing volleyball at 13 years old and immediately fell in love. After playing his first club season, he knew he'd never want to stop, and this feeling only grew through his three years of playing club. Though unfortunately had to quit club due to an injury, he continued playing through school and recreation leagues.

With his years of playing, he received several D3 NCAA offers and several D2 NAIA seasons but rejected them, allowing him to continue playing recreationally in the future and to give the opportunity to coach. Through his years of playing, he found a strong passion coaching for volleyball, starting out with teaching his younger cousin, and now a real team.

Coach Ethan began playing volleyball at the age of 12 with his middle school team and found the deep passion for the game and determination to start playing club volleyball at 14 years old when playing pickup games with some friends. Despite Covid canceling his U15 season, he still gathered with other players during lunch at school to further develop his skills and understanding of the game and signed up for camps once restrictions were lifted. Leading himself to play his first club season at the age of 15 and becoming the captain of his U16 team. At the age of 16, he first began coaching by head coaching a middle school boys volleyball team. The experience led him to find a deep passion for coaching, leading, and helping young athletes to develop skills and understandings of the game to their fullest potentials.

Ethan's experience playing both high school and club volleyball only strengthened his love for the game. With a passion for leading, he wants to give back to the younger generations, just how his coaches have done for him. He is dedicated to making an environment that puts young athletes development and interest of the game first, while they either first find or continuing to find their enjoyment and love for the game. Ensuring athletes can grow as volleyball players and individuals on and off the court and have fun while doing so.

Ethan is currently enrolled in Post Secondary Education pursuing a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. And when not at school, you can find him either playing or watching sports, only deepening his passion for sports daily. Looking ahead, he is extremely excited to meet the next generation of volleyball players and to work with them to help them develop in their volleyball journey.

Coach Makylie began playing volleyball at the age of 12, discovering a deep passion for the sport during her junior high and high school years. Her dedication led her to compete at both school and club levels, where she developed not only skills but a strong love for the game..

Coach Makylie's love for volleyball originally started while watching her older brother play, and that early inspiration grew into a lifelong passion for the sport. With two years of club volleyball experience, she has gained valuable insight into teamwork, discipline, and personal growth through sport. Coach Makylie is committed to sharing that passion by helping young athletes discover the joy of volleyball. She looks forward to continuing to inspire athletes through the game she loves while building a positive, competitive, and growth-focused environment.

This is Coach Brianna and this will be her first year coaching with Bounce. She has been playing volleyball for almost 5 years. She started in the 8th grade and began playing club volleyball at her U13 year.

She decided to begin her coaching journey not only to help younger athletes improve their skills, but to also help those athletes find comfort in an uplifting, motivating, and fun team! She’s extremely excited to meet all of you this upcoming season.

Coach Kaliah found her love for volleyball after playing on her junior high and high school teams. Through those years, volleyball has been something she loved and looked forward to. After winning the city championship her senior year, her passion for the sport only continued to grow. After high school she decided to join club volleyball. With the support and community of club, Kaliah was able to grow her skill as an athlete. Competitive volleyball helped her gain a deeper understanding of teamwork, discipline, and the amount of hard work that is needed in order to succeed.

Kaliah is excited to work with young athletes on their journey to pursuing their volleyball dreams. Helping them improve their skill, while also being able to create an environment where the athletes love and dedication for the game can continue to grow. She is determined to create a positive view on the sport. Surrounded by sportsmanship, trust, hustle, and kindness towards others on and off the court. Coach Kaliah is committed to help athletes have fun playing the sport that they love.

ANYIAH ZSIDEG
TEAM MANAGER/TRAINER

Coach Anyiah grew up in a small town playing volleyball during middle school, and high school. She started coaching volleyball when she was in grade10, helping her middle school program.

She continued coaching and playing until they had went into a world wide lockdown because of Covid. When they returned playing, coaching became difficult as they were constantly going into quarantine during the season, not only did this season disappoint her as a player, it had disappointed one of her other teammates as it was our last year to play. After graduation, she had taken a gap year and decided to continue coaching the middle school program.

A year later, she had moved to Airdrie and went to college. She is currently a fitness trainer. Her long term goal is to be a trainer for Volleyball athletes and help them excel more into their fitness goals to reach their potential. She is super excited to be a part of a volleyball club to see young athletes grow in the sport they love and help them reach their goal. Her favorite thing is to be around family and friends, and to be on the volleyball court.

Coach Josi found her love for volleyball in her first year of high school and has since developed a passionate and committed relationship to the game and community! After throwing herself fully into development both physically and intellectually within the sport through high school and club; she is excited to be entering the next stage of her volleyball career as an assistant coach.

Josi is devoted to investing herself in our athletes, their game, skill, and most importantly their passion! Having started later, she understands the distance in which a love for the game and willingness to learn can carry an athlete. With two years of club experience she has acquired an inside understanding on the fundamental pillars of a successful team including discipline, accountability, and sisterhood. Josi finds immense value in understanding her players and giving each athlete exactly what they need to succeed and feel seen. She is excited to help our athletes flourish, gain confidence, and develop an in depth understanding of themselves as players and individuals!

Coach Sophia played both club and high school volleyball before her competitive career was cut short by injury. Despite stepping away from the sport competitively, she has continued to play both court and beach volleyball recreationally and has maintained a strong love for the game.

Outside of volleyball, Sophia is passionate about health, fitness, and rehabilitation. She enjoys staying active and believes that dedication, consistency, and a positive mindset are just as important off the court as they are on it. Sophia is excited to coach because it gives her the opportunity to stay involved in the sport while helping young athletes build confidence, develop their skills, and experience the same sense of growth, teamwork, and enjoyment that volleyball gave her. She strives to create a positive and supportive environment while passing along the lessons she learned through the sport.
